In Trustee Area 2, incumbent and longtime board member Maureen “Mo” Ward faces parent Jessica Spaid.
In Trustee Area 1, which represents Colfax and Foresthill, appointed incumbent Rob Hitchcock faces parent Casey Jeffreys. Hitchcock was appointed to this seat in 2021 after longtime board member Lynn MacDonald passed away during her term. The winner would serve the remainder of MacDonald’s term, through 2024.

Two trustee area seats are up for grabs this election cycle. While the five-member board has trustee areas, the candidates are elected at-large by the voters.
Placer Union Trustee Area 2 represents areas of North Auburn and is currently represented by Incumbent Maureen “Mo” Ward, who has served the district since 1998. Ward faces parent Jessica Spaid for the Trustee 2 seat. Spaid is the mother of five boys, two of whom attend Placer High School, and is a small business owner who has lived in Auburn for 10 years.
“Our children and families are recovering from unprecedented times which call for unprecedented measures,” Spaid said. “Actively addressing the learning loss and the drops in literacy and math competency rates due to the past few years is critical as we prepare students for their future endeavors.”
